Easter Sunday
Happy Easter! The girls received their Easter baskets this morning and were all smiles before church. Mallory's basket had a Sofia the First Buttercups doll and Maggie's had new sandals.
Here is a picture of the girls before we left for church. Mallory wore a "new" dress that had belonged to Abby and Maggie decided she wanted to wear her Christmas dress again. It still fit and worked well with Mallory's dress. After a couple of pictures were taken we left for church to worship our risen King.
This year was our year to celebrate Easter with Mammy and Guy Guy. Since Matt was playing in the band, Mammy and Guy Guy came over to our house for Easter Dinner.
Mammy made a delicious ham in the crock pot and I made jalapeno creamed corn and asparagus. All of the food was delicious. For dessert, we had s'mores and made them in our fire pit. They were so good!

Easter Weekend Fun
Last Sunday it rained so the HOA Easter Egg Hunt was cancelled and rescheduled for today. I called Betty to see if she and Sam had plans (which thankfully they didn't) and invited them to come to the hunt and to hang out.
I didn't take any photos of the egg hunt because I was too busy helping Mallory and Matt was helping Maggie. This is the first year that Mallory was really excited and into running around for eggs. Maggie was a little overwhelmed, but in two years I bet she is just like Mallory.
The kids colored eggs when we got back home and then we munched on pizza for dinner.

Jose zannah
How Maggie pronounces Hosanna. I just had to write down this memory. One day she will say it correctly. One of her favorite songs is "Hosanna," by Hillsong.

Annual Roach Feed and Seed Trip
We made our annual trip to Roach Feed and Seed today. Last year Maggie didn't really want anything to do with the baby ducks and chickens, but her attitude has changed. She was willing to pet them and wanted to hold one. There was no way I was going to let her hold one - I was afraid she would squeeze it to death (because she was so excited) or get scared and drop it and kill it. That was the last thing I needed!
After we enjoyed the ducks and chickens, we went to the pet shop portion of the store. The girls had a great time seeing the fish, gerbils (gag me), and rabbits.

Mommy and Me Preschool Event
The "Mommy and Me" event this year was so much fun! There were stations set up both inside and out with fun activities for the kids. The even happened on a Thursday so Maggie was able to come as well.
The first thing we did was the Easter Egg hunt. Each child could get twelve eggs and Mallory let Maggie help pick the eggs. Here are a few cute pictures I got of the girls outside.
After we hunted eggs, we headed inside for some fun. The first thing we did was make butterflies out of coffee filters and then made necklaces. Both of those took a while so we didn't get to do anything else. Oh yes... on the way out we moped the deck outside. (This activity was done at the Daddy and Me event last fall and now Mallory loves to help mom). All three of us had a great time!

Surprise Anniversary Party
Back in February when Matt and I were celebrating nine years it dawned on me that my parents will have been married 43 years this year. I told Matt I really would like to give them a surprise party since they wouldn't let me do anything for their 40th anniversary. Matt told me I could and so I started making plans. First Matt called and told my parents we wanted to cook dinner for them for their anniversary and scheduled a date in case they were asked to do something that date. My mom took the bait when he called her. Next, I emailed their closest friends for them to keep April 5th open as well.
As I continued to plan the party, I thought "oh no, what if my parents come over looking less than stellar!?!?!?" I bold faced lied to them (yes- I did feel guilty) and said that Matt got a gift certificate to some nice restaurant and we were going to go there instead. My mom took the bait again! Whew!
Let's fast forward to party time: Here are our two tables decorated with some arrangements that I got at Costco. Who would have thought.
I ordered the dinner from Elke's, in Allen, and the food was amazing! My friend, Heather Vancil, made the cake for us. She is a baker and lives in Oklahoma City now, but she was down for the weekend. The cake was fantastic and there were hardly any leftovers. Insert tear.
My parents being goofy and cutting the cake together.
My parents were so surprised and they had a wonderful time with all their friends. They have known some of these people longer than 43 years!
