Halloween

As always, Halloween was a fun event in our neighborhood.  We all (Berry family, Moorehouse family, our family) went over to Kristen and Richard Greene's for dinner. Kristen made yummy chili for the grown ups and mummy dogs for the kids.

Mallory and Maggie decided to be Fancy Nancy book characters. Teaghan and I decided to get in on the action and join in the fun.

Teaghan: Christmas Fancy Nancy
Mallory: Original Fancy Nancy
Stephanie: Weaping Willow Fancy Nancy from "The Mermaid Ballet"
Maggie: Posh Puppy Walker Fancy Nancy from "Posh Puppy"

Pre-K Daddy and Me Event

Today was the annual "Daddy and Me" event at Learning Academy Preschool.  This year, they decided to have it the same day as Halloween Costume Day.  Maggie came to school dressed up at Elsa from Frozen.

Maggie and Matt both said they had a great time playing games.

Maggie got a cute pumpkin painted on her face.

There was a photo booth, but Maggie refused to get her picture taken with Matt.  She didn't want everyone looking at her.  Here are a couple of fun pictures they took together with Matt's phone.

Maggie Photo Outtakes

Today was fall picture day at pre-school.  I didn't expect Maggie to smile so I asked her if we could take a few pictures before we left.  Here is what I was able to capture.  She looks so happy!

I did learn that she smiled really big for her pictures.  Mrs. Beth, her teacher from last year, came and told me.  Mrs. Beth was very excited because last year she tried everything to get Maggie to smile and nothing worked.

Maggie Smiled

This is the first school photo that Maggie has ever smiled in.  We are so excited.  She is so beautiful.

Guest Room Makeover

The furniture in the guest bedroom was the first furniture purchase I made after graduating from college.  It is really nice, but I'm tired of it and want to update the room. I tried selling it, but nobody was willing to pay the asking price...which was a lot. It was expensive and is still in great condition.  After much research online, I decided to paint it with chalk paint.  Matt was a huge help because he is just a better painter than I am.

BEFORE photos:  plain pine furniture, tan walls, and light blue/brown bedding.

AFTER photos: white furniture accented with gold drawer pulls, new fabric headboard, gray walls, and navy blue/white/yellow bedding.  I even made the sunburst mirror above the bed using a small circle mirror, contractor shims, and lots and lots of hot glue.  I absolutely LOVE the way the room turned out.  I've very impressed with myself - not to be boastful.

Pre-K Pumpkin Patch Adventure

I met Maggie at school today to join her at the pumpkin patch.  The class learned how pumpkins grow from a seed to pumpkins ready for picking.  They also learned about different types of gourds - the one she is holding in the picture below is called a Swan Gourd.

Maggie and me being silly. She looks cute!  Maggie was really excited to wear her festive bubble necklace today.

Here is a picture of Maggie with her classmates.

Maggie on the tractor.  We have a picture of Mallory on this same tractor when she was three.  Mallory was wearing a sleeveless shirt - that tells you how hot October in Texas can still be.

Blase Family Pumpkin Patch Outing

We were able to back to Blase Family Pumpkin Patch this year and once again we had a great time.  It was really really hot though.

The girls enjoyed looking at the animals, but wouldn't feed them. They were afraid they would get bitten by the goats.  Nobody's fingers were hurt this year.  Two years ago a goat or sheep bit my finger pretty good, but didn't break the skin. Just hurt for a minute or so.

The girls are definitely taller than they were last time we visited.

Enjoying pumpkin flavored fudge.

Waiting for the hay ride.

Just having fun as a family.  The girls and I were so glad and thankful that Matt was able to take the afternoon off and join us.

Fancy Nancy and JoJo

Mallory and Maggie literally got dressed up for church today.  Mallory was Fancy Nancy and Maggie was her little sister JoJo.

Maggie had not planned on wearing a hat, but when she saw Mallory had on her's...well she had to go get a hat too.  She wants to be just like Mallory.
