Asleep with Guy Guy

Mallory, Maggie, and I went to Greenville to hang out with Mammy and Guy Guy.  The girls had a lot of fun playing with my old toys and working in the garden with Guy Guy.  Maggie had so much fun she couldn't stay awake.  I love this picture!!

Pre-K Graduation

Tonight was Pre-K graduation at Mallory's school. (I have always thought this was so cheesy, but I really enjoyed it.)  I asked Mallory if there was anything special she wanted for dinner and she asked for pizza.  We got the Aldi pizza, because that is what sounded best to her. 

Her class singing some songs.  Mallory sang and enjoyed herself on stage. This is the first performance in two years where she smiled, sang, and did the movements.  We were all thrilled.

Each student got a graduate sign to put in the yard.  Here is Mallory posing with her sign. Matt had us put in the back so we can enjoy looking at it each day.

Maggie's Birthday Party

Today was Maggie's birthday party and it was so much fun! Maggie's favorite show right now is Paw Patrol so that was the the theme of the party. Paw Patrol features six pups that help anyone in need in Adventure Bay. Their motto is "No Job Too Big, No Pup Too Small."  Both of the girls enjoy watching the show and Matt and I don't mind it either.  Way better than some of the other kid shows that are on.

Each year I make a welcome sign and a birthday banner.  Check out that cute little hand wanting to hold the sign up for me.

Here is the bounce house that was a huge hit! I had told Maggie last November if she would go potty on the toilet (I didn't want potty training to take forever) that I would get her a bounce house.  Note to self - never promise something until you see the price tag first.  Oh well...it was a blast and we made great memories.

Having hot dogs..get it?

Dog bowl cake - it turned out really well!  The dog food is just cereal.  We gave the cereal a.k.a Dog Chow away in "Doggie Bags" and sweet Jonah Halpin refused to eat it because it thought it was real dog food.

About to sing to the birthday girl. She was so excited to hear the song because it is one of her favorites to sing.  This will be the only smile that you see on her face because it is about to go downhill very quickly.

We all start to sing and Maggie now realizes the focus of the room is completely on her.  She DOES NOT like attention.  The pictures below say it all...

Birthday Cake Prep

This morning, the girls and I made the cake for Maggie's birthday party.  I purchased a yellow cake mix a while back, but this week Maggie volunteered this bit of information: "Mama, I want strawwwwwberry cake."  I really didn't want to make a trip to Kroger (only place around here that sells a strawberry cake mix) so I asked if she really wanted strawberry or just wanted a pink cake.  She informed me she needed a strawberry flavored cake so we went to Kroger.  I am a firm believer that you get the cake flavor you want when it is YOUR birthday.j 

This is the first time that Maggie has been old enough to actually be somewhat involved in the cake mixing process.  There were a few power struggles between Mallory and Maggie, but in the end they both had a great time.  I'm sure if you asked them the best part was licking the beaters.

I love this face with the bright pink cake pieces on it.  We made the strawberry cake and the yellow cake because I thought we needed a three layer cake (I was wrong). I used hot pink food coloring to make the yellow cake bright pink, thus the pink face below.

The military believes that no man is left behind, while Maggie believes no cake crumb is left behind. Silly girl.

Oscar Mayer Weinermobile

This morning, the girls and I went to the Rec Center so I could work out. Afterwards, we ran to Kroger for an item that is not available at Aldi.  When we pulled into the parking lot I got so excited. The Oscar Mayer Weinermobile was there.  I have seen this vehicle on the road quite a few times during my lifetime, but never been able to go up to it. The girls were not impressed, but I was!  Woo Hoo!!!!

Traditional Mother's Day Lunch

It's Mother's Day weekend so that means it is time for us to have our traditional Mother's Day lunch.  This year we decided to go to Ballard Street Cafe because Maggie was going to go with us.  Mallory really wanted to go back to the tea room we went to last year. I let her know we couldn't because Maggie is still too little and I would not enjoy lunch because I would be scared she would break something accidentally.  Well...we could have gone to the tea room.  Maggie was in the worst of spirits (mad at the world for no reason and crying) so we decided it would be best to leave her home.

Mallory, Mammy, and I had a great time at lunch.  Mallory and I both got pancakes and bacon (Mallory ate all her lunch and some of mine) and Mammy got french toast.  Afterwards, we walked to Say it With Sugar and I treated us to yummy gourmet cupcakes.  We were pretty full on sugary and delicious breakfast foods so we saved the cupcakes for Mother's Day.

Matt took a few photos of us before we left.  You can see that Maggie wouldn't even participate in these.  She doesn't like to have her picture taken, but she wouldn't even come over for photos. Typically you can get her in the picture, but she won't look at the camera most of the time.

Much Needed Rain

It rained.  And rained.  And rained.

I don't remember ever seeing our yard look like this before so I had to take a picture.  The water in the middle of the yard (going down towards the slide) was literally a flowing river.
