Coming Home from Kindergarten

The first day of school came to a close and we didn't want to miss the bus. Here is Maggie with her own bus while we wait for the big bus to bring big sister home.

Here it comes!!!!

I love how she is waving at us.

Mr. Andy checking her name off while he learns all the kiddos and the route.

We went to Yogurt Cup to celebrate and hear all about her first day.

First Day of Kindergarten

We officially have a kindergarten girl at our house.  Today was the first day of school and Mallory woke up excited and ready to go.  Matt snapped a few photos of both girls before we headed out the door.  Matt chose to work from home today so he could take her to school and be home when she got off the bus.

Silly girl!

On the way to Hunt Elementary.  Mallory started crying a little bit because she was nervous about being gone from me for so long each day.  I started to cry a bit too.  Matt and I reassured her that everything was going to be wonderful and the day would be over before she knew it.

Mallory in front of the school.  We will be doing this each year.

Mallory with Mrs. Rea.  Mrs. Rea won me over when we came into the room and she remembered Mallory's name. I was impressed!!

A REAL Tea Party

Today, I surprised Mallory with a REAL tea party.  I stumbled upon a Groupon for "Tea for Four," at Into My Garden in downtown Plano a while back and obviously purchased it.  (Mallory has been wanting to invite her friends over for a while now to have a legit tea party and I have always said "no."  I say this because most of her friends won't eat tea type food and some of that stuff is hard to make!)

I decided to surprise Mallory with the tea party today because Kinder starts on Monday. I figured let's end the summer with a party and I invited her special friend Lilah and her mom Courtney.  We all had the best time.  Mallory's favorite parts were the pink lemonade, dessert, and using real china.  Everyone had a great time.

Here are some photos of Mallory and me. I have NO idea what happened to the picture of all four of us. Bummer!!!!

Going to Kinder Bucket List

I recently came to the REALization that Mallory is going to start Kindergarten soon and our days will no longer be the same.  We won't be able to go here and there like we used to during the week.  Mallory and I sat down and made a list of what she wanted to do before going to school full time.  Her list included:

- a sleep over with Mammy and Guy Guy

- a sleep over with Papa Nick and Grandma

- go to the movies (we didn't because there wasn't a kids movie she wanted to see)

- ride the carousel at the mall

- have lunch with dad (see below)

- have a sleepover in her room with Maggie (see below)

Practice Bus Run

Today was the practice bus run for Kindergarten kids in Plano ISD.  Ava went with us because this is her first year to ride the bus as well.

We (including Matt and Maggie) were all at the bus stop at 7:05 AM waiting for the driver.  He was a couple of minutes late which was okay with us.  Mr. Andy drove us to school and showed the girls where they would get off the bus and drove us back home.  They got to ask questions about the bus and everyone had the best time.   The school buses these days are much better than when I rode the bus - heating, AC, a button that opens and closes the main door. Seats are still as uncomfortable though.

Kindergarten Hair Cut

Mallory got her big girl Kindergarten hair cut today.  We both agreed she needed to get a shorter do that would be easy for both of us to manage.  She wanted it super short, but I wasn't ready for that.  Everyone loves it!

Hiding From Daddy

Hiding from Daddy is a daily ritual when Matt gets home from work.  As soon as the girls hear the garage door they drop whatever they are doing (usually dropping a fork onto a plate) and go right here.  One day, they are going to realize that Matt knows exactly where they are. Until they find a new place, he will continue to go along with it and be scared every time.  Mallory and Maggie love his reaction and I know Matt loves that they do this as well.
